We want you to experience the healing power of Restorative Practices.

Meet Ish

Ish (she/her) dedicates her professional career to supporting others to let go of what they’re holding from the impact of oppressive systems. She supports clients as they decolonize what’s been passed on to them, implement tools that repair the legacy of historical and familial harm, and create the possibility of liberation for future generations.

An interdisciplinary approach

Ish has a diverse professional background which includes holding positions as:

  • Attorney/Litigator

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker

  • Restorative Justice Practitioner

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader

  • Higher Education Administrator

We believe an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving brings diverse perspectives to the table, fostering a richer and more comprehensive understanding of complex issues. By integrating insights from various fields, Ish is able to promote innovative solutions that draw upon a broader range of expertise and knowledge. This collaborative synergy not only enhances creativity but also ensures a holistic examination of challenges, ultimately leading to more effective and sustainable problem-solving outcomes.

What is bringing us joy?

The Fire Ensemble

Ish is currently a member of the Fire Ensemble. The Fire Ensemble is an intergenerational choir community for New Yorkers currently being incubated by The Shed. It is dedicated to using song and ritual as tools for collective liberation centering BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folx.

Award-winning author and creator adrienne maree brown was The Fire Ensemble’s 2022 resident artist. She created a musical ritual, To Feel A Thing: A Ritual for Emergence, in collaboration with The Fire Ensemble’s artistic director, Troy Anthony, and directed by Charlotte Brathwaite. Featuring original music and text from brown, this new work acknowledges the spirit inside each of us that is a wild creature of Earth, along with the feelings that lead us to adapt for survival and to come together to care for our communities. Together with brown, and accompanied by a gospel band, The Fire Ensemble brought this piece to life in a stripped-down workshop presentation.
